He does this in a one day class on a Saturday or Sunday over 7 ½ hours which is remarkable, because at least 80% of each class has never played any instrument before and usually claim to have no musical ability.
The harmonica in use is a 10-hole Diatonic in the Key of C. You can bring your own or buy one for $20. You will learn to play in time with others, play solo in the band, and make sound of the steam train, then Learn Harmonica tabs and how to play single notes. That is followed by an understanding of music, and the mysterious dots on the page the turn out to be not so mysterious. You then go on to learn 6 or 7 different types of songs.
The Ukulele class is always fun. Bring your own uke or Ken has ukes to lend so you can try one out before you commit to buying your own. This is a good idea, as there are different sized ukes which might suit you better, especially if you are a Big Bloke (who are always welcome).
Uke classes have 50 -60% raw beginners so you won’t be out of place whatever your ability. Learn to strum with others, play different timing, write you own simple lyrics, fingerpick a tune or two; and play about 12 different chords. In the class we will learn about 10 or 12 songs and you will have enough ability to straight away join in with any uke group.
