Cliff Fletcher was born in Sydney. He grew up and went to school on the Northern Beaches. He studied science at The University of Sydney from 1988 to 1989 before postponing his education to try his hand at a music career. In 1997 he returned to study philosophy at Macquarie University. In 2001 he moved from Sydney to Mullumbimby in northern NSW with his partner and family. Together they built a house and home in this beautiful town. In 2004 Cliff enrolled as a postgraduate student at the University of Queensland where he was granted an APA scholarship to pursue his research. He was a philosophy tutor at UQ from 2006 to 2010 where he taught in a wide range of courses including several introductory units, cognitive science units, the philosophy of science and religion, and courses on chance and chaos. His postgraduate research focused and the philosophy of art and aesthetics, the history of philosophy, and social and critical philosophy. In 2012 Cliff gained his Masters of Philosophy from UQ for his dissertation “The Philosophy of Entertainment”. He still lives in ‘Mullum’ with his partner and family where he works as a musician and swimming teacher. Cliff is working towards turning his Masters dissertation into a book on ‘entertainment’ as a cultural problem.
