I have been involved with rescuing wildlife for roughly seven years in the Byron Shire. The Wildlife I chose to focus on are reptiles, bats and koalas and I volunteer for Friends Of The Koala in Lismore.
I have loved animals since I opened my eyes so it has been a real honour to be able to help the wildlife here and advocate for them. I have also been teaching children from the ages of 5-12 in after school care programs and assistant teaching and teaching.
My main focus has been connecting people to animals and the best way to do this is to be hands on. I work to support the lives of and advocate for the local “rainforest” dingoes. I now live with my two Wild Born local dingoes and a young Dingo pup who I am now fostering. They are a culturally important species to the First Nations people in the Bundjalung region. It has been a very emotional journey learning what they and the indigenous people have suffered and are still suffering. My aim is to bring the Dingo into the light and create cultural connection to their people.
