Wendy Champagne
Resume
Wendy was offered her first commission from a wellbeing magazine at 28. She persisted with her writing, took a night job at a second-hand bookstore to pay the rent, and began writing regular profiles and culture pieces for the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Financial Review.
Tired of squeezing her exhaustive research down to 600 words or less, she turned to writing essays and feature stories from far-flung places where she felt most at home, and where she could meet people face to face and follow serendipitous story leads. She successfully published these in newspapers and magazines such as Mindfood, L’Actualité and The Atlantic before finally succumbing to the passion of exploring even longer form stories through documentary filmmaking and book writing.
Wendy also leads private writing courses, personal mentoring as well as teaching Screen & Media at Tafe.
