Jenni Cargill-Strong
Jenni is a well-known Australian storyteller and respected community member in Byron Shire. She has twenty-eight years' experience as a professional storyteller, four award-winning story albums, seventeen years' experience teaching storytelling and several years' experience teaching online.
Originally, she trained at The Drama Action Centre in Sydney in a range of performance skills, specialising in storytelling, then toured Australian schools for seven years. She settled in Mullum, gained a DipEd and has taught storytelling since 2003 to students at Southern Cross University (SCU), teachers, librarians, professionals, parents and children.
Jenni founded and curated the community storytelling event ‘Stories in the Club’ for two years in Mullumbimby.
Jenni won the Brisbane heat of ABC Radio National’s Story Slam ‘Now Hear This’ with her original tale ‘The Mulberry Tree.’ Her stories and songs have been featured on radio in the U.S. ‘Apple Seed radio’ and locally on 99.9 BAY FM Community Radio.
