Dominique Quirke
Resume
My name is Dominique Quirke and I am a henna artist, a home/water/lotus birthing Mama of four little beauties, a practicing artist, a birth attendant (doula) and a student of Naturopathy. My journey into the sacred body art of henna began when I was pregnant with my second child. I decorated my own blossoming belly and I began to pamper my doula clients with henna for their pregnant belly’s, too. Soon people started to plan their Blessingway ceremonies around when I was available to henna their belly’s. I decided to enter the world of markets and festivals and I have been weaving my magic all over the country ever since. I still love to henna Mamas and their beautiful pregnant bellies. I now also teach the art and intricacies of henna to others. There are many different styles of henna which stem from different places around the world, from Indian, to Moroccan, Mauritian, African and Russian. I love to experiment and meld the traditional art of henna with contemporary artwork, inspired by a melting pot of cultures. Creating henna artwork is like a meditation for me and every day I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I love to do. I live with my family, my husband and my four littlest gurus in the beautiful town of Mullumbimby, near Byron Bay in NSW, Australia.
I source only the highest quality certified organic henna leaves, and mix my own paste with organic lemons, 100% pure organic essential oils and a magic potion of organic herbs, to create my henna paste. I recycle chip and coffee packets to make my applicator cones, along with biodegradable sticky tape, which I use to apply the henna to your skin. I use beautiful fabrics to clean up any spills along with Australian organic 100% pure eucalyptus oil to clean up any spills.
