As an 8 year old I trawled through “The Lettering Book”, fascinated by the funky, fat and 3D typestyles on offer there. Later on when my primary school obtained a primitive mac, I spent my evenings devising code that would make it draw a BMX bike, with limited success! An interest in screen-printing found me working the carousel in my 20’s and it was there that I noticed that the artwork guy seemed to be having the most fun...
After completing a Graphic Design Diploma in 1998, I was fortunate to work under an accomplished Illustrator, and for some years focused on Adobe Illustrator myself. Soon after, at a corporate design studio I was trained in Adobe InDesign and have not looked back. Solving different creative challenges each day as a freelancer with MacPeople rates as a highlight, as does combining a love of music and art via CD packaging and instrument catalogue design in my own small business today.
With the rapid development of design tools it’s essential to communicate within a network of creatives, and it is this sharing of knowledge and skills that has drawn me to teaching at Byron Community College.
