Resume
I started my community service career firstly by training in early childhood work. My passion was working with children with special needs, early integration and play in hospitals. When I was enjoying raising my 3 sons, I worked at home as a host mum for many young children with a range of special needs. Then when the boys were school age, I helped set up and coordinated an integrated After School Care service in Sydney’s Western suburbs and became a staff trainer.
Some years later, I did my Cert III in Aged Care and worked for 10 years in Aged Care facilities, in the community and as a Lifestyle coordinator for Feros Care. We then moved up to the north coast to support my ageing parents as my Mum was diagnosed with Dementia. At present I work as a community support worker in the disability sector.
I received my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment here at the College and have really enjoyed tutoring the Certificate III in Aged Care with Kellie over the past 4 years. It is wonderful to meet up with past students working in our local Aged Care services and to see them confident with their new career.
