Tirza Abb
Resume
Tirza Abb graduated as a Graphic Designer in 2004, in the UK. Her degree work won a prestigious design award from the Royal Society of the Arts [RSA], which led to an invite to Buckingham Palace as part of a National Celebration of British design.
After graduating she gained valuable experience as a design intern at ‘Waitrose’ Design Department ( a leading up-market supermarket chain), creating packaging designs for food products and directing photo-shoots.
After the internship she went to work as a Junior in a UK Design Agency, working on branding and various print design campaigns before going on to establish her own design company called Think blink design
Over the last 11 years, having moved to Australia 5 years ago, she has established and maintained a strong and regular client base here and in the UK and has held workshops in ‘Adobe Indesign’, ‘Photoshop’ and ‘Illustrator’, teaching adults and teenagers how to get the most from their photos and how to use those photos to create great posters, programmes and flyers.
Tirza says "I still remember the first time I saw someone using Photoshop. I couldn’t believe how you could even zoom in on a photo, never mind all the other amazing things that Photoshop is able to do. Nobody ever taught me how to use Photoshop. We had technicians that helped us when we got stuck at University but not teachers that taught us how to actually use the programs. It was often a struggle to figure out what was going on. I can clearly remember how everything felt so complicated in the beginning and so it helps me to remember to explain things simply, clearly and step by step to people who are just starting out, sharing that thrill of learning how to do those first photo manipulations."
Your first time opening up Photoshop can to be confusing. You’ve seen some examples of the incredible art and photo manipulation capabilities of this program, but you don’t even know what a ‘mask’ is.Tirza is a professional, every day user of Photoshop and all the other Adobe Creative Suite programmes, through her design practice. She will work as an experienced facilitator to guide you through the basics; developing key skills from understanding the interface, to removing a subject from a photo and placing it on a new background, using layers and masks. She will help you become the proficient user that you want to be and facilitate your skill development to do what you wish to achieve with your photographs, becoming a confident and quick user of the software.
