Learn to build and repair tubular steel frames with a MIG welder! Experienced welders and novices alike have the opportunity to learn and practice welding tubular steel, both painted and galvanised. Also included is an introduction to techniques and tricks of the trade needed to construct in tubular steel, so you can start planning your own projects for furniture, gates, railings, or repairing the trailer etc.

As with the previous welding classes you’ll be instructed on types of welders and their uses before specifically focusing on the versatile MIG welder. We’ll compare gas vs. gasless set-ups, learn about different metals, types of welds and problem troubleshooting.

Step by step we’ll explore how to prepare a space, and yourself, for safe and effective welding. There will be plenty of hands-on-tools action to practice your welding skills as well as steel grinding and sanding. All this while creating your own square tubular steel plant stand.

This class covers more ground than the existing Welding Intro classes and would suit someone interested in improving their skills for steel framework construction and repair.

Your tutor, Nyree, is a metal artisan/ fabricator with over 30 years metalworking experience.

No previous metalworking experience required; however, this class easily accommodates learners of differing skill levels.
