Permaculture Teacher Training

Want to inspire others to learn about permaculture? Join us for a seven(and a half) day intensive teacher training that’s been designed to empower you to become an effective and creative permaculture teacher.

During this course, we will cover a sequence of steps to help you learn how to communicate clearly and confidently when teaching permaculture to others. Suitable for people of all abilities, these skills are also transferable for teaching/facilitating in other disciplines.

We look forward to training the next generation of permaculture practitioners.

The course covers:

• Develop confidence in teaching using a range of skills, techniques and tools
• Strategies and methods for the different topics in permaculture
• Opportunities to practice and monitor what you learn
• What is presently known about best teaching practices
• How teacher behaviour and language can affect learning
• What is known about learners and how to reach/motivate them effectively
• Practical experience and knowledge of international permaculture curricula
• Developing a PDC curriculum with a group of learners
• New and emerging Permaculture content

This course is the internationally accepted training course for permaculture teachers following the curriculum of Rosemary Morrow. Run in partnership with Byron Community College, certificates will be issued by Blue Mountains Permaculture Institute.

Criteria for attendance:

• Recognised 72 hour PDC
• 100% attendance
• Desire to be an effective teacher

• We will provide vegan/gluten free snacks (our caterer uses organic, wholefoods and supports local producers).

Scholarships

We have two full scholarship places available in the Permaculture Teacher Training for anyone facing structural or systemic barriers to education or employment in our community. Teacher Bios:

Guest Teacher - Rossmary Morrow, Rosemary is a Permaculture teacher and writer who has worked extensively over 40 years with farmers and villagers in Africa, Central and South East Asia and Eastern Europe and is the author numerous books including Permaculture Teaching Matters,  The Earth User’s Guide to Permaculture, Earth Restorers Guide to Permaculture and The Earth User’s Guide to Teaching Permaculture.

Greta Carroll is a permaculture educator and organic farmer currently based on Wadawurrung Country. She has taught with Permaculture College Australia and is currently a course facilitator with Permaculture for Refugees. Passionate about accessible, inclusive education, Greta has developed curricula and learning opportunities for diverse groups. She has worked with people in displacement settings for over a decade, in Australia and internationally.

Sarah Boulle is a dynamic facilitator based on Bunjalung country. She has worked as a group facilitator for over 20 years with people of different cultures, and ages. Sarah coordinated the children’s program for the International Permaculture Convergence in India in 2017, and for the Thailand Permaculture Convergence in 2016. Sarah has a Certificate IV in Permaculture, and is also an active member of Permaculture for Refugees

Cancellation Policy:

Two weeks notice is required for a full refund if you need to withdraw from this course.
