Natural Dyeing and Shibori

This course has no current classes. Please the waiting list.

This two day introductory workshop will give you the chance to discover the magic of extracting colour and imprints from plants, using leaves, flowers, and roots onto fabric.

During the course you will be shown several SHIBORI techniques, which is the Japanese word for tie-dyeing, by using stitching, clamping, folding, twisting, and compressing to create intricate patterns.

The nature of plant-dyeing is in itself, a slow process, that requires time, heat and patience! And is very satisfying... each bundle drawn from the pot, is like opening a present from nature. You will be amazed at the transformative properties of plants that give an array of beautiful colours. Additonal materials $50
