Tufting Rug Making Workshop for Beginners

In this 1 day workshop you’ll create your very own unique rug using tufting techniques. Learn the basics of operating a tufting gun and within minutes, you'll be creating your very own designer rug. Using new and recycled yarns to create one off pieces! Come have some fun!

What you'll learn:

  • Introduction to using a cut pile tufting gun
  • Choosing the correct primary fabric and yarns
  • How to stretch the fabric onto the frame correctly
  • Learn to transfer your design/drawing onto the fabric
  • How to complete your rug - gluing, backing, trimming

What to bring:

  • All materials provided - the tutor may not have the exact colours you are looking for, so please bring in any extra yarns you would like to incorporate into your design - 4-8ply, not cotton or velvet covered, you'll need approx 2kg of yarn
  • Bring any new, recycled, or vintage yarns you would like to use for your rug
  • A simple design you have in mind or choose one from the tutor

Important information

Once your enrolment is completed you will receive a confirmation email. This email will be your receipt and inform you of the dates, time and venue of your course, it will also let you know of anything you need to take to class with you.
