Sculptural Metalwork For Women

This course has no current classes. Please the waiting list.

In this women’s only sculpture class, you’ll explore different metalworking techniques in a safe and fun environment. These include, cutting, fixing (including welding) and forming metal, depending on the design you choose. This class is a logical choice if you are a previous welding student or existing hobbyist who wants to expand your artistic and practical skill base. Also, novices who want a safe “taste” of metalwork, are also encouraged to participate.

The focus will be on creating your own piece of garden art with recycled mixed metals (upcycling). This includes a decorative birdbath project realised during the class. Some materials are supplied so you can add your own individual touch and practice new techniques. You can also bring your own recycled metal objects and materials to incorporate into your birdbath creation.

If you have previous welding/ metalworking experience and would like to do your own project, please contact your tutor, Nyree, to discuss what you have in mind and she’ll try to oblige, a size limit may apply: nyree@smithart.com.au.

Nyree is an experienced creator of metal art and objects with over 30 years’ experience. She’s designed an enjoyable and informative class that will help you upcycle with confidence!
