Explore a range of simple plant propagation techniques including cuttings, root division and seed raising to allow you to grow a range of plants for your garden in a simple and cost effective manner. Learn a range of seed saving and storage techniques that empower you to secure the great diversity of food varieties on our planet. Discover how you can develop and evolve varieties of food plants that will have optimum productivity in the unique conditions of your own home garden.

Plant Propagation:

  • Methods of Plant Propagation
  • Asexual (cloning) vs Sexual Reproduction
  • Creating your own Potting Mixes
  • Quarantine and Hygeine for pest and disease control

Seed Saving:

  • Seed Collection, Storage, Sourcing and Exchange of Seeds
  • Plant Families
  • GMO’s and Hybrids vs Heritage Varieties and non-hybrids
  • Open Pollination
  • Domesticating Plants and ‘Rewilding’ Genes

Permaculture Design Course

This course module is one of 13 which make up the internationally renowned Permaculture Design Course (PDC).

You are welcome to attend just this module to learn the skills outlined above (without doing the other modules), but if you wish to gain the Permaculture Design Certificate you must complete all modules within a 12 mth timeframe and satisfactorily complete an Individual Permaculture Design Project.

There will be hands on learning components in outdoor locations so please wear comfortable outdoor work clothes as needed, this includes

  • Sturdy covered shoes or boots
  • Appropriate long pants
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Gardening gloves
