Create A Beautiful Handmade Journal  - Book Binding - Online Class

Create a personalised, handmade journal or sketchbook as we re-discover the art of Coptic bookbinding, one of the oldest bookbinding techniques. This one day course will give you the skills to make your own beautiful journals at home, ideal for all those special musings, art journals or treasured gifts.

What to bring

  • 1 A4 pad of watercolour paper/ or mixed media paper 25 sheets approx 200 gsm
  • Two pieces A4 thick cardboard, called box board. We can stick cereal packets together to create the thickness
  • Darling needle, thick embroidery cotton. The ball type, not the one you separate/ or dental floss
  • Some Matt medium, acrylic paints, tissue paper (the kind you get your cups wrapped in at stores. Very cheap packs in newsagents and cheap shops)
  • White glue or Pva
  • Brushes varied – just what you have
  • Scissors and Stanley knife/ cutting surface

This is an online class

  • learn from the comfort of your own home, this class will be delivered live online via the Zoom platform
  • you need an email address, a reliable internet connection, a microphone/speakers and access to a tablet, smartphone or computer
  • please ensure your email address is correct when enrolling, as a Zoom link to the class will be sent via email
